At the Grove Park Inn, holiday decorations have been put in place. The Christmas trees are up, the wreaths hung and once again it is time for the Annual Gingerbread House Contest. The winners were announced this past week and all the houses are on display in the public areas of the Inn. Competition was fierce this year from bakers all across the country and the results are pretty amazing!

To celebrate the winners here is some interesting gingerbread trivia to go along with the pics -
~It is a tradition to wait until New Years Day to eat your gingerbread house.~

~Crusaders brought the spice ginger to Europe from the Middle east in the 11th century.~

Holy catfish, they're works of art! Wow, amazing! Concats to the winners. :-)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week and celebration!
Splendid, I like the chubby reindeer.
Wow. There far too good to be edible! LOL! All of them - all lovely and so intricate! I love the detail and can only imagine how long it took to make these! What a most wonderful tradition and competition! Thanks for the pics and for the really interesting history of gingerbread - now I know why it's bread - cos of the breadcrumbs in the original recipe!
Take care

You can always count on gingerbread houses to sport a lot of red!
CLAD IN RED
Whenas in red my Julia’s clad,
Then, then (methinks) she’s wicked bad—
Like Hester Prynne, but not so sad.
Next, when I cast mine eyes and see
Those crimson skirts flow full and free,
Her sweet seductions taketh me!
